I believe I have mentioned the bike parade Katie and I participated in this last summer. After writing that post I felt some regret as it didn't really convey the true experience. Well as I was looking up fun things to do in Boise, I found a link to some pictures taken during the bike parade. So here is the think so I can remedy the situation and help you all to realize the awesomeness of this event. Also, so you realize that it is imperative that you all come join the fun next year! Mice-scapades

The Following are mice number 1 and number 3. Soon after their photographs were taken they were then enjoyed as a delicious meal by Baby the corn snake. May they digest in peace.

Thanksgiving fun

So I know this is a little late but hey at least I am getting it up here so no complaints. I also thought it was quite a nice juxtaposition with the last post... I am grateful for frozen mice. Well for Thanksgiving I went back home to Reno. It was a blast. I was the only one that came home considering Kyla is in China and Bri is workin' hard for the money. So I got some quality time with the padres. I got in Wednesday and baked my little heart out. I make a pretty wicked pumpkin pie if I do say so myself. I also tried a recipe for a sweet potato cake, which turned out to be quite tasty. It ended up just being the my parents, myself and a girl that is living with my parents Alycia. So it a a small but mighty group. It was kind of refreshing to have a nice quite Thanksgiving but we did miss the bloody battle that is the nerts game that follows the dinner. We ended up just cleaning and hanging out and watched "Hairspray." Love it! Then on Friday we slept in a did a little shopping later on is the day when all the crazies were home recovering from their earlier insanity. Saturday then consisted of go to Sacramento to check out the new temple, hit up the outlet malls then off to the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. My mom affectionately referred to this as " some concert on Saturday we should check in to." It was phenomenal! I would highly recommend this to anyone! Well there is the update for Thanksgiving. Hope everyone is enjoying their holiday season. Katie and I sure are. We just took Christmas photos. Why you ask... why not?

"Mouse...like ice cube"

I have had many inquisitions about the mouse photo. Well here it is. I have decided to try my hand in the art of photography. Along with this goes the fact that Katie my roommate has a corn snake that needs to be fed mice about every week or two. So clearly I would join the two and photograph the thawing mouse. This was suggested to me when I was in Utah this last time and telling of the joy of the thawing mice on my counter and their often contorted positions. So for your viewing pleasure here are the first two mice of the series by Stephanie Rock entitled "Mouse...like ice cube. "

Ode to the Halsey's

So I am sad to inform/discuss the recent moving on of some very close friends. No they did not die...they moved to Maryland. So last weekend I packed up my duffle bag and headed on my way down to the good ol' land of salt and mormons. I made a detour at Elizabeth's house in Logan. Where of course we stayed up late talking, catching up and the like. Her sister Megan was in town which was a joy to catch up with her as well. The next morning we got up and to breakfast for high quality sustenance at the Village Inn. Along with good food was good company as E-beth's friends and fellow GI's (that is graduate instructor not gastrointestinal) accompanied us and were really the reason for the excursion. It was quite enjoyable. Lets just say "vagina" was said within the first 2 minutes. Those are some funny cats. Well I then continued on my way down to SLC where I picked up Mellie and her potato pearls. Continuing on to Thanksgiving Point, we met my brother for lunch. He told us all about his dating life etc... it was quite fun. We spent quite a long time chatting. Then it was back to SLC for the main event... Geri and Seth's Bon Voyage Party. It was such a good time. The extremely large dog, mint oreo goodness, chimney sweeps... and much much more.

Well I must say I am sad to see Geri and Seth go but very excited to hear about their new adventures and what Seth has seen blow up if he can disclose such information.


To the Halseys: You guys are just really freakin' awesome. Thanks for all the good times. The runs (not diarrhea), the nudey pictures (sorry Seth [adn Danny] nothing like the David :). You guys will be greatly missed but no worries you know about my travel bug, so I will definitely be out to visit and play! LOVE YOU!!

3 year old mocking

So as some of you know in my new job I have quite a few spanish speaking kiddos. And as many of you also know I don't speak spanish... quite the conundrum. Well, I guess I should clarify. I have taken spanish in middle school, 3 years of high school and I year of college. It sounds like I should have some basic spanish skill but alas any ofyou that have taken foreign language classes know the truth. Well yesterday I was working with one of my spanish speaking little girls by myself (she works better without the translator). We usually do alright. My toddler level spanish and her being a toddler is usually ok. Well yesterday I told her to do something and she started laughing, I asked her what she was laughing about and she proceded to correct me becuase I had said "passita" and it was "passito." Then i was telling her to do something else and she began laughing a second time and corrected me again and then promptly shook her head and replied "Stephanie, Stephanie." Sweet! I am officially humbled in my spanish speaking skills. So there you go I have officially been regulated by a 3 year old! Life is good.

Halloween is the freakin' coolest holiday

So for the record I love halloween! What other holiday do you see grown people at their place of business wearing George Washington wigs or green tights like Peter Pan...halloween rocks! So Thist last weekend we had quite the halloween festivities (by we I mean Katie and I). Friday we went to a halloween party thrown by a girl in the ward where we talked about joys of 80's/early 90's fashion such as pegging your pants and LA gears. One of the guys we were talking to was ranting and raving about "tuff skin" which neither Katie nor myself have ever heard of... so if anyone can enlighten us or at least give us another testimonial it would be much appreciated. Then Saturday I went with Kyle (speech therapist from work) and Cierra (from my ward) on the Pumpkin Liner. Which consisted of riding a train out to a "pumpkin patch" which was basically a cleared out piece of land covered with imported pumpkins as well as the required "town scene" with a bank and grocer or something like that. I also am quite sure that we were the only people on the train over the age of 20 that were not accompanying children. There was also a child have a birthday party... how fun would that be! Then that night we attended a stake party where a man was a kissing booth...genius. Katie said is she only had a dollar....Oh and for the record Katie was a seductress from the move "Alphaville" and I was inspector gadget. I wore my trench coat for Halloween and church... is that a problem? Oh and one of my patients was spiderman and one brought me a pumpkin. Also, we just had trick-or-treaters...2 of them.






Then on Sunday we had a cheese tasting party. We had about 10-12 varieties of cheeses along with fruit, bread, crackers and sparkling grape juice. It was quite a good time. I love cheese!

We also had the pleasure of a little visitor last night. Charlotte not so cute as in the book/cartoon. When spiders have shadows under them it is not an enjoyable event.

Little people-spicing things up since Adam and Eve

And no I don't mean midgets. Katie (my roommate), her mom, sister and nieces came last night to visit. The little girls are 3 years and 9 months old. umm... they are quite adorable. Last night Gracie (the3 y/o) found a small mouse we had on our coffee table ( don't ask) and kept petting in and putting it up to her face and caressing and saying "it's so cute" and "it's really soft mommy, feel." And then today in church, of course during the sacrament seemed the ideal time to pull ones dress over one's head in the aisle. Man going church with little children in much more enjoyable. So needless to say the last 24 hours have been quite action packed. Other than that life if going well. Not a whole lot to report. I just got sustained today to be the 2nd counselor in the Relief Society which I am quite stoked about. I have also now diagnosed and achilles tendon rupture for my highcouncil man and an ACL tear for another kid on my ward. I think my ward in accident prone. But at least I have been useful that is always nice. Oh and for those of you that are looking for good recipes my aunt sent me on for the most amazing french toast thing. Look it up on the foodnetwork under " baked french toast casserole." Don't let the" casserole" distinction deter you, it is freaking awesome. Also, today we had the chastity lesson in church where comments were made such as "don't listen to your body, listen to the spirit" and " if you aren't selling, don't advertise." So on those notes I will leave you now. Hope everyone is doing well and remember...lower your standards, raise your skirts!!! ( our relief society is screwed :)

Finally!

So, due to many requests to create one of these things, I have finally complied. I will hopefully be better about writing on this than I am at writing in my journal. Keep your fingers crossed. Well for a quick recap of recent worth mentioning events... I have moved to Boise, participated in a Bike parade, passed my Physical Therapy license exam, got a job as a PT in a pediatric clinic here in Boise-hence the move, acquired a new red, much cooler hatchback to drive a round in (it accelerates up hills-who knew!), tried an ice cream potatoe (only in idaho), road 56 miles around the Heber Valley while taking a quick side trip to shoot things and saw my little Bro now that is he back from his 2 year escapades in Brasil, and said farewell to my sister before her jaunt to China. I think those are pretty much the hightlights I can recall immediately. Oh for those of you a part of the travel club... China? I know someone ;) Well hope everyone is doing well.
